Book Review Remember Dhaka

BOOK REVIEW

When I first saw this novel in Yogya Grand Subang booksale. I fell in love with the title and cover. The cover has combination of bright colors. I directly bought and read it. The title is Remember Dhaka. Remember Dhaka was written by DyLunaly and published by Bentang Belia. The novel has 204 pages. The editor name is Ikhdah Henny. Published on 2013. I think the genre of this novel is romance. The price of this book is cheap, only Rp15.000, that's one of my reason bought this novel.

This novel was about Arjuna Indra Alamsjah. He has stubbornness. He was upset because his sister and his father decided to send Arjuna to Dhaka to become a volunteer. At first Arjuna was approve it, and something was happened to him. And well, Arjuna agreed with his sister and his father to go to Dhaka for a month as a teacher who will teach children in one school there. After being a volunteer in a month, his father would grant any wish of Arjuna.

And the journey of being a volunteer was started. Juna should be scrimped. Now, he wasn't having any more and he was forced to use the budget airlines for flights to Dhaka. This is something new for Arjuna who had always get at least a first class flight to his destination. He also had to use public transportation for trips to where he lived as a volunteer. And in Dhaka, he met an a female native Sweden named Emma, and she was advisor arjuna during his time as a volunteer in Dhaka.

Arjuna's life in Dhaka in the begining it was excruciating. He never imagined that Dhaka was a city where every three hours is always held power outages and blackouts water for energy saving. He also complained every day and missed the comfortness of  Jakarta. However, the figure of Emma made him change. Emma show  him about gratitude, about giving and making the other to be happy. There is a feeling, more than just a friend of Arjuna's heart to Emma.

In addition we can dive into the life of Arjuna in Dhaka, Dy also invited us to know about this city. I really appreciate all, because Dy took a different setting. She introduces us through a variety of interesting places in Dhaka and Kolkata, teaches us a little bit of how to speak Bangla and tell us some people's habits in Bangla. One more interesthing in this novel that Arjuna always wrote a story about his journey and his life in Dhaka through his writingblog posts.

The touching part is when there was student in which Arjuna became a teacher, went school without shoes, and he drew shoe laces and boots on his feet as if he were wearing a real shoes andshow it of to Arjuna. It's very touching to me, that there is a spirit in the child to attend school despite the limitations that he had. In my opinion, this novel not only teaches Arjuna about the meaning of life and the process of maturation itself, but it taught me just how lucky I am compared with other children even to buy decent clothes to wear to school they couldn't.

I recommend this novel especially for teenagers. This novel gives a clear value, that while young we have to working hard and  do something for the social life.I feel motivated, thats why I give this book 5 stars out of 5. Like that what Kak Agni said. She said "The future made by every single tear and sweat. Future is what path you choose today!" So read this book, and you will find a lot of quotes.
